Vault Management & Organization
Your Vertueal vault provides a single, encrypted hub for managing your online credentials, server access keys, confidential documents, and payment details. Every item added is encrypted client-side with your Master Encryption Key before being synced to cloud storage.
Vault Item Categories
The vault supports five dedicated item categories:

Tip
When you click Save Item, your local browser encrypts the payload via AES-256-GCM in the background Web Worker before syncing the ciphertext blob to the cloud.
2. Organizing Items into Folders
Folders allow you to segment your credentials by project, client, or personal vs. work contexts.
- In the left navigation sidebar, navigate to the Folders section.
- Click the + New Folder icon.
- Enter a descriptive name (e.g.,
DevOps & Cloud,Banking,Social Media). - Click Create.

Cmd + K(macOS) orCtrl + K(Windows/Linux), or click the Search Vault bar in the top navigation. - Type any keyword (website name, username, URL, or tag).
- The list updates instantly. Press
Enteror click on a result to view item details.
Note
Search indexing occurs exclusively in local browser RAM. The server never indexes your plaintext search terms or keywords.
4. Clipboard Protection & Auto-Clearing
Copying passwords into the system clipboard is a common attack vector for background clipboard monitors and malicious browser extensions.
- When you click the Copy Password icon next to any credential, Vertueal copies the decrypted string to your clipboard.
- A toast notification displays: "Password copied to clipboard. Auto-clearing in 10 seconds."
- Exactly 10 seconds later, the application automatically clears your clipboard contents.
Warning
Avoid pasting copied passwords into untrusted communication windows or unencrypted text documents.
5. Editing an Existing Item
Credential rotation and URL updates are common maintenance tasks. To edit a vault item:
- Locate the item in your vault list or use the Search bar (
Ctrl + K/Cmd + K). - Click the item to expand its detail view.
- Click the Edit button (pencil icon) in the top-right corner.
- Modify any fields: username, password, URL, folder assignment, or notes.
- To regenerate the password, click the Generate icon inside the password field.
- Click Save Changes.
Note
Each save triggers a full vault re-encryption cycle. The updated ciphertext blob is atomically synced to the cloud, and the vault version is incremented for conflict detection.
6. Deleting a Vault Item
To permanently remove a credential, note, or payment card from your vault:
- Open the item you wish to delete.
- Click the Delete button (trash icon) in the top-right corner.
- Confirm by clicking Yes, Delete Permanently in the confirmation dialog.
Warning
Deletion is immediate and irreversible. Once deleted, the item is removed from your encrypted vault blob and cannot be recovered. If you may need the credential again, consider moving it to an "Archive" folder instead.
